As usual, the day opened with the gift of the Eucharistic Celebration, during which we gathered around our Lord and Master, Christ Jesus. In his homily, Fr. Dario Vigano, professor of communications and president of the Pastoral Institute of the Pontifical Lateran University (Rome) and also president of the National Film Evaluation Commission of the Italian Bishops Conference, invited us to keep firmly in mind that God follows the logic of disproportion, by reason of which the small things we share with one another become bread for all. Entering into this divine perspective helped us examine more carefully the journeys we made together on the continental level.
In fact, today our sharing of ideas moved from our circumscription projects to that of our continental projects so as to evaluate how we concretized the lines of action programmed during our meetings in 2010. Working on the continental level was a positive experience because, with all respect for the uniqueness of each people and culture, we were able to identify common elements that nourish our whole body, make it easier for us to journey together and thus multiply our possibilities for doing good. We truly felt at home with one another during this time of sharing.
During our evening prayer, the liturgist of the day offered us the chance to express our gratitude to the Lord. Taking advantage of this, we thanked him for the gift of the Word, for the fraternal spirit that reigns among us, for the courage of our Australian Delegation to launch two online magazines ten years ago, for the small steps we have taken to reinforce communion and collaboration among ourselves, for our current situation of instability because it gives us the chance to trust the Lord more completely, for our sick and elderly sisters who offer their sufferings for the growth of our Congregation and mission, for the young women the Lord continues to send us
.
To these many thanks, we also want to add our sincere gratitude to Sr. Lucia for the incomparable solicitude and spirit of service with which she runs the St. Paul House. Her attentiveness to our needs and the swiftness with which she meets them truly makes us feel as if we are residing in a 7-star hotel!
In the coming days, we will be drawing up a summary of our continental reports and seeking orientations for the future.
